We are born in a state of pure joy. It is our birthright. I would consider joy to be like the roots of a tree. I would consider happiness to be like the branches of the tree.
Joy does not come from outside of ourselves because it is what we already are – pure joy.
The “elusive” happiness that we seek is therefore already within us, so there is no need to seek it outside of ourselves, or to fabricate it or attempt to create it through artificial means.
